Why Mozilla?

Mozilla Corporation is the non-profit-backed technology company that has shaped the internet for the better over the last 25 years. We make pioneering brands like Firefox, the privacy-minded web browser, and Pocket, a service for keeping up with the best content online. Now, with more than 225 million people around the world using our products each month, we’re shaping the next 25 years of technology and helping to reclaim an internet built for people, not companies. Our work focuses on diverse areas including AI, social media, security and more. And we’re doing this while never losing our focus on our core mission – to make the internet better for people.

The Mozilla Corporation is wholly owned by the non-profit 501(c) Mozilla Foundation. This means we aren’t beholden to any shareholders — only to our mission. Along with thousands of volunteer contributors and collaborators all over the world, Mozillians design, build and distribute open-source software that enables people to enjoy the internet on their terms.

About this team and role:

The Mozilla Builders 2.0 program is a point of entry for startups, projects, and people that want to collaborate with Mozilla towards a shared vision of the future. Currently we are focused on collaborating to build best in class open-source AI projects and nurturing a community of developers that share Mozilla’s mission to build a healthier internet and enrich people’s lives.

For 2024, we will be launching a cohort-based program that provides funding for open-source maintainers and founders. During the program, participants explore curriculum to build and scale open-source projects, build healthy communities, design business models, and secure funding.

The Program Manager (PM) is the operational backbone of the Builders team. The PM’s focus is on program operations and execution to deliver the best possible program experience for founders, mentors, partners, and other stakeholders. This includes event management, using tools/developing processes to manage program data, building and scheduling the 3-month programming calendar, execution of Demo Day, and developing the Builders playbook. The Program Manager is also responsible for collaborating closely with internal stakeholders to support their goals within the program.

The PM will have oversight of the Mozilla application process logistics and the management of the program. In addition, this role will maintain strong bonds with developers and startups, acting as a resource and looking out for relevant opportunities to support their success.

  • Implement network events/programs to support founders and alumni both during program and outside of program
  • Develop relationships across Mozilla that can support our participants, communicate and collaborate with internal and external partners to get work done timely and efficiently
  • As time permits, and as experience grows, work with Director and Engineers to source and evaluate potential investments related to the program themes, including market research, competitive analysis, investment memo development.
  • Support the development of a strong pipeline of startups with diverse and underrepresented founders
  • Measure and track program progress, cultivate and share best practices, and report insights from the program.
