Team

The Technology Platforms team stewards the Mozilla Foundation’s technology platforms and products, provides partnership and expertise around tools selection, and works to understand business needs and impact goals to ensure our technology solutions effectively support the organization’s mission and teams.

The Director, Technology Platforms is a strategic and operational leadership role responsible for executing the technology roadmap to support the Mozilla Foundation's mission and growth. This leader ensures that all underlying platforms—including data & analytics, web, and CRM systems—are robust, scalable, and aligned with organizational needs, driving efficiency and impact across the Foundation's programs.

Job responsibilities

This is a fixed-term position for eight months to cover a parental leave, with an expected start date of February 2026.

During this time, the Director, Technology Platforms will oversee and lead the delivery on the following projects: 

  • Email Service Provider Migration by the end of Q1 2026.
  • Rebuild and launch of a new mozillafestival.org website; and final selection and implementation of event management technologies to deliver on the 2026 Mozilla Festival and other events at the Foundation. 
  • Continued build out of mozillafoundation.org and grow web traffic by making the site more accessible, discoverable, and engaging. 
  • Oversee changes and piloting updated grantmaking processes, ensuring historic data is imported and real-time data access is established. 
  • Ensure datasets and datasources critical to the north star are available in the data warehouse and reporting is built and made available for impact reporting.
  • Oversee technology operations at the Foundation and liaising with key contacts at other Mozilla entities when needed. 
  • Oversee the transition of and management of Common Voice; our premier open-source voice dataset project. 

As a  Director, Technology Platforms at Mozilla, you will…

Technology Leadership & Strategy  - 40% of time

  • Provide steady and strategic leadership to the Technology team, ensuring continuity of priorities and clarity of direction.
  • Act as a strategic partner to organizational leadership on technology, data, and digital infrastructure decisions.
  • Oversee ongoing projects and cross-functional initiatives that align with the Foundation’s strategic priorities and digital transformation goals.
  • Support strategic decision-making related to technology systems, investments, and vendor relationships.
  • Serve as a key liaison to the Leadership Team, ensuring visibility into progress, risks, and opportunities within the technology portfolio.
  • Oversee the Technology team’s budget, ensuring responsible stewardship of financial resources and alignment of spending with organizational priorities.

Product leadership  - 35% of time

  • Provide strategic direction and prioritization across the Foundation’s product portfolio, ensuring alignment with organizational strategy and impact goals.
  • Ensure the continued development and delivery of digital products and platforms that serve staff, community, and partner needs.
  • Maintain momentum and accountability on key initiatives by fostering strong collaboration between the Technology team  and other cross-functional teams.
  • Bring a strong digital and technology perspective to organizational planning and reporting, ensuring insights and updates are effectively communicated to leadership.
  • Champion a culture of learning, experimentation, and responsible technology use across the Foundation’s digital products.

People & Team Management - 25% of time

  • Provide management and mentorship to the Technology team’s managers and staff, ensuring clarity of roles, priorities, and expectations.
  • Support and coach managers in balancing day-to-day operations with strategic alignment.
  • Foster a collaborative, inclusive, and supportive team culture that reflects Mozilla’s values.

Your Professional Profile:

  • Demonstrated experience in digital, product, or technology leadership roles.
  • Strong organizational awareness and ability to navigate complex, matrixed teams.
  • Excellent communication skills — confident working with executives, reporting to leadership, and translating technical progress into organizational impact.
  • Experience managing and developing people managers and technical professionals.
  • Comfort making decisions, managing ambiguity, and prioritizing strategically.

Salary and Benefits Information:

Mozilla Foundation is dedicated to fair and equitable compensation for our staff. We aim to pay a competitive and market-based salary based on the responsibilities and requirements of the role. We do not ask for, or take into account, salary histories in our offer process.

The starting salary ranges for this role are listed below. These four countries are where we most commonly employ staff.

  • Germany: €111,513- €125,277 
  • UK: £92,404- £103,810 
  • Canada: $192,510 - $216,272 
  • US: $142,600 - $160,201 

Some regions fall into a higher salary market and this is reflected in the example ranges below: 

  • London:  £115,506- £129,763
  • New York: $178,250 - $200,252 
  • DC: $171,120.00 - $192,242.16
