We’re updating the Firefox Privacy Notice effective December 17, 2025 to reflect recent product changes.
Here’s what’s new:
- We updated the section that describes how we Provide and improve search functionality and suggestions, and added links to learn more about how it works. In addition to suggestions delivered locally, you may now also receive suggestions from Mozilla and its partners, which are retrieved using a privacy-preserving technology called OHTTP that hides your IP address and other identifying data from all parties (including Mozilla itself). You can adjust or turn off these suggestions at any time in your browser settings.
- We updated the section that describes how we Serve relevant content and advertising on Firefox New Tab. In some regions, we use on-device processing and OHTTP to build privacy-preserving models that help us recommend future content based on New Tab clicks and impressions. When sponsored content is on, we also show ads based on the New Tab content you see. Data about how you interact with those ads may be processed locally on your device. The shortcuts feature also uses browsing data locally on your device to select top shortcuts, some of which may be sponsored. You can turn off sponsored content in your Settings at any time.
- We added information about our new “Shake to Summarize” feature that users can turn on, including a link to more information about how it works.
- We removed a section describing the Review Checker feature, which is no longer available.
- We updated the lawful bases table to reflect these changes to how we process your data.
- We added a link to an updated list of the service providers and partners that Mozilla works with to provide Firefox and related services to you.
- We made some stylistic changes, and hopefully made the language easier to understand.
