Mozilla exists to build a better internet. The Mozilla Innovation Ecosystems group is tasked with advancing the next phase of innovation at Mozilla through collaborations with people and organizations who share our values.

We are looking for an experienced leader to shape, launch and lead our new startup accelerator program. The program’s goal is to cultivate startups that share Mozilla’s mission to build a healthier internet and enrich people’s lives. We want to establish a community of founders creating disruptive companies who have the courage and vision to build great businesses that also have a positive impact on people and society.

As the Director of the Mozilla Builders Accelerator, you will recruit, and invest in the best possible set of ambitious founders and help them get their companies off the ground. Within the program and beyond you will help founders through mentorship, introductions, deal-making, problem-solving, and evangelizing. You will help build a small team who will assist in designing and launching an incredible experience that founders will be proud to participate in. You will have support from our corporate development and broader ecosystem teams.

The Director of Builders is responsible for curating a diverse set of founders for each program class that fits Mozilla’s ambitious goals to support founders with a responsible mission working to build a healthy internet. You will cultivate relationships with the rest of the startup ecosystem including entrepreneurs, mentors, investors, and others. You will report to the SVP of Innovation Ecosystems.

What you’ll do:

  • Work closely with startup teams to identify and address their needs, provide mentorship, and connect them with resources to help them succeed
  • Help startups navigate success, failures, and difficult decisions
  • Help build the Mozilla Global Entrepreneur Network
  • Develop a comprehensive plan to measure and report on the impact of the program on participating startups and the broader community
  • Build relationships with the broader startup ecosystem to help startups access funding, expertise, and networks
  • Work collaboratively with Mozilla internal teams to ensure alignment with the company's mission of keeping the internet open and accessible to all - stay connected with Mozilla product initiatives and strategy
  • Identify opportunities for collaborations between founding teams and Mozilla to support our broader innovation ecosystems agenda
  • Represent the Mozilla Builders Accelerator in the global community

What you’ll bring:

  • 10+ years of experience in fast-paced environments: startups, venture capital, or startup acceleration/incubation, with a proven track record of success
  • Strong knowledge of consumer technology and trends in the startup ecosystem
  • Experience with fundraising, term sheets, and partnership deals
  • Acute empathy towards the founder journey: either through personal entrepreneurial experience or working very closely with startup CEOs
  • Self-starter energy, an ability to work with little direction and process
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders
  • Passion for supporting entrepreneurs from diverse backgrounds, including underrepresented groups
  • A commitment to Mozilla’s Mission to build a healthier internet and dedication to help solve issues such as unintended consequences of technology, discrimination, bias, misinformation, privacy abuse, and others
  • Charisma and an ability to give public speeches and represent the accelerator and Mozilla
